The Armory Show, 17ème édition du 5 au 8 mars 2015

L’Armory Show, la foire new-yorkaise d’art moderne et contemporain, aura lieu pour sa 17ème édition du 5 au 8 mars 2015 et accueillera plus de 180 galeries issues de 27 pays. La foire coïncide exceptionnellement cette année avec la Triennale du New Museum, exposition internationale dévouée au début de carrière d’artistes du monde entier.

Armory Show, plateforme pour l’art dévouée à un public de collectionneurs et d’amateurs avertis, se penchera plus particulièrement cette année sur le Moyen-Orient, l’Afrique du Nord, et la Méditerranée (MENAM) avec à sa tête le commissaire Omar Kholeif. Cette attention portée sur les galeries et le paysage artistique du MENAM est soutenue par les partenaires culturels Edge of Arabia et Art Jameel.

Armory Show comprend également la Armory Arts Week, un programme culturel d’évènements et d’expositions déployé dans la ville, ainsi que d’une soirée d’ouverture de gala au Musée d’Art Moderne et le séminaire Open Forum.

La partie contemporaine du Armory Show se déroule dans l’espace Pier 94, où les galeries présentent des œuvres inédites d’artistes. Les nouveaux exposants sont Kamel Mennour (Paris), OHWOW (Los Angeles), mfc-michele Didier (Paris) and Axel Vervoordt Gallery (Anvers). Une sélection de galeries ayant participé les années passées propose pour 2015 Metro Pictures (New York), Cherry and Martin (Los Angeles), Mihai Nicodim Gallery (Los Angeles), Rachel Uffner (New York), Ben Brown Fine Arts (Londres), Johnen Galerie (Berlin), Monitor (Rome), Carl Freedman Gallery (Londres), Galerie Micheline Szwajcer (Bruxelles), and Galerie Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois (Paris).

La partie moderne du Armory Show qui se déroule dans l’espace Pier 92, est dédiée aux marchands d’art internationaux spécialisés dans les œuvres significatives du 20ème siècle. Des exposants ayant déjà participé à la foire sont présents, dont Marlborough Gallery (New York), Galerie Thomas Modern (Munich), Galleria d’Arte Maggiore G.A.M. (Bologna), Alan Cristea Gallery (Londres), Moeller Fine Art (New York, Berlin), Marc Selwyn Fine Art (Los Angeles), Simon Capstick-Dale Fine Arts (New York), James Goodman Gallery (New York), Michael Rosenfeld Gallery (New York), Galerie Bergamin (Sao Paulo), and Mayoral Galeria d’Art (Barcelona).

En outre, Pier 92 – Modern accueille de nouveau Michael Schultz Gallery (Berlin, Seoul, Beijing) et Shoichiro (Tokyo).

The Armory Show 2015 returns for its seventeenth edition from March 5-8, hosting 197 of the world’s premier galleries from 28 countries across North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Having received a record number of gallery applications, the 2015 fair brings together a wide range of ambitious presentations; Pier 92 – Modern will represent art and artists from the twentieth century, while Pier 94 – Contemporary is dedicated to leading international galleries presenting new art by living artists. In its continued commitment to fostering a serious, compelling platform for emerging and established galleries worldwide, The Armory Show will feature Armory Focus: Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean (MENAM), curated by Omar Kholeif, in a devoted section of Pier 94. The MENAM focus is presented in collaboration with lead cultural partner, Edge of Arabia, and education partner, Art Jameel. The 2015 fair will include Armory Presents, a section devoted to single and dual artist presentations by galleries less than ten years old. The 2015 fair also kicks off Armory Arts Week, a city-wide program of cultural events and exhibitions at galleries and museums in all five boroughs of New York. The Armory Show is thrilled to announce that the fair coincides with the New Museum’s 2015 Triennial: Surround Audience, in which our Commissioned Artist, Lawrence Abu Hamdan has been included.
